Whether you’re new to photography or it’s a hobby which you’ve had for years, there are always a number of photography events where you can showcase your work. If you want to take up photography professionally, it’s an excellent way to showcase your photographs and you’ll earn yourself some recognition, as well as having something to aim for.

Check in your local area for photography exhibitions and competitions which are happening. You may be surprised – many organisations such as museums and libraries will often hold events like this for local people to participate in. Even if your photographs aren’t accepted at first, it’s excellent practice to try and hone your skills to improve the images which you capture.

If you have a general interest in the subject of photography, it is a good idea to visit plenty of events and exhibitions regardless of whether your own work is being shown. You will be able to get inspiration and consider new techniques, and you may meet like-minded people to share tips and tricks with. You can also make yourself known to the staff, which can be very useful if they hold photography events regularly and you want to be kept in mind.
