Disposable cameras certainly won’t take the best pictures in the world. They can be incredibly good fun though, and people will often hand them out at events so that their guests can take their own photographs.
It’s becoming especially popular to use disposable cameras to take photographs at weddings. They’re often left on tables so that guests can use them, then the photographs are all sent off to be developed together. This can be a brilliant way to ensure that you have plenty of memories from your big day and it gives everyone a chance to contribute.
Whilst it can be fun, however, you must bear in mind that the photographs aren’t likely to be of a particularly good quality. Even if some of your friends are keen photographers, disposable cameras aren’t particularly good pieces of equipment and the pictures they produce probably won’t be very clear. It’s likely that you will still want to hire a professional photographer for your wedding so that you have some good quality images to remember your day by.

Food may seem like one of the easiest objects to photograph, but it’s not necessarily that simple. You’ll need to practice as much as you can to get the right angle, emphasise the right parts and create interest in a potentially rather plain image. If you get good at it though, there are a number of functions it could serve for you. Here are some ideas for generating business for yourself:
- Take photographs for restaurants. There are often close-up images of the food they serve displayed on their walls and in their menus, and they’ll need a good photographer to produce these for them.
- Work for hotels. They’ll often want photographs of their breakfast food and events catering for their website and printed literature.
- Get into advertising. Many different food-related brands will want to advertise their products and they’ll need them to look as appetising as possible. You’ll also need to know how to work with angles to make the dishes look as generous as possible.
- Produce food packaging. Almost everything edible which is sold in a supermarket will have images of the finished product somewhere on its packaging. It’s a big industry to get into.
- Speak to individual shops. Smaller retailers will often rely on the quality of their food to allow them to charge more for it, so they’ll need high quality images which show it off to its best potential.

Being able to photograph amazing wildlife can feel like such a privilege. The insight you get into the natural world and the time you get to spend out-of-doors makes it a particularly enjoyable experience. It’s something which anybody with a camera can take the time to do, but you’ll need to know how to go about taking the best possible pictures to make your time worthwhile.
The key to successful animal photography is patience. It might take you a long time just to find the animals which you are looking for – this is the very first step, and even this can try your patience. Find somewhere quiet and comfortable to get set up and be ready to capture the wildlife which crosses your path. The beauty of wildlife photography is that you never know which animals might turn up if you’re willing to wait. It may not be the exact shoot you were planning, but it could be just as good, if not better.
Practice makes perfect. When your subject matter is so unpredictable, the only way to get better is to keep trying out different techniques and angles, seeing what works well for you. Practice is important for every photographer, but if you want to be able to take some great photographs of animals, you’ll need to go the extra mile.
Technically, you want to use a fast shutter speed and avoid using a flash. The shutter speed will reduce blurriness if animals move around, which they have a habit of doing at just the wrong moments. A flash isn’t a good idea when shooting wild animals as it will startle them, and you’ll end up frightening away the wildlife which you want to attract.

Ah “camera phone” – that was a pretty quaint term. What I probably meant to say is that I will finally have a phone with a good camera on it. My iPhone has a decent one, but I can’t reach it to clean it sometimes because of the case it’s covered with. I don’t even know what the resolution of the camera is, or what pixel density it offers or what colours it offers and the depth of picture on offer as well.
So this new phone, though, this One Plus two does, apparently, feature a state of the art camera with resolution this, pixel that, colours here and colours there. I do not understand the technology behind it, but I know that it was much, much cheaper than my last phone and is much cheaper (and just as good) as other smartphones on the market today!

There are a million different kinds of events where photography is required – but there are very few that require such expert photography as the wedding event. The reasons for this are many, but I only want to focus on one in particular today. Have you ever noticed how, in wedding photos, people (particularly the bride) look gorgeous. That is an art form – not just from the people who spend hours making sure the bride looks incredible, but also from the photography staff.
It is about hitting the right lights, getting a great setting and the right angles and poses. It is extremely difficult to do, but it is of crucial importance on this, one of the most special days of these people’s lives. A couple of naff photos are fine, but you have to make sure these people, the bride in particular, look amazing. A bad review from a wedding will hurt your business going forward.
